As we reflect on another remarkable year at The Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton (RSJH), we are inspired by the unwavering dedication to excellence demonstrated by our research community. Your passion, resilience, and commitment have been instrumental in advancing our mission of delivering cutting-edge research that improves the lives of patients locally and globally.

Our work is deeply rooted in the foundational principle, “Health and Humanity for All,” which encapsulates the spirit and philosophy that guides us. This principle, inspired by the Mission and Values of the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Ubuntu spirit — I am because we are — underscores our commitment to compassion, inclusivity, and collective responsibility. It is through this lens of humanity that we approach each discovery, each innovation, and each partnership.

This year has been a testament to the strength and momentum of our research enterprise. We are excited to report that total research funding grew by 9 percent, reaching $49.17 million, with significant contributions from industry funding that surged by 76 percent to nearly $12 million, as well as federal funding that increased by 8 percent to $15.4 million. These numbers reflect the growing confidence in our ability to drive impactful, high-quality research. Moreover, we saw a rise in invention disclosures, from 6 to 11, obtained more than $3.6 million in funding to support innovation projects, and saw the number of research studies increase from 497 to 591 — further demonstrating our commitment to innovation and discovery.
